Love Like This

I wish God was a blanket that I could just go wrap around everyone in the world.

Can you imagine how wonderful it would be to be able to wrap that warm enveloping presence of overwhelming love around people who are so desperately needing it? It's one thing to love on someone when they're hurting, and to remind them how much the Father loves them, how much He sacrificed for them, to give them Bible versus to use as strength. But wouldn't it be wonderful if we could instead of describing that great love, just wrap it around them and let them feel it?

I know when I'm working and praying for those that are having difficulties, my greatest prayer is that God will fill them with peace and love, and move their hearts. It seems like such a simple thing, really, for those of us that know and feel His love and presence every day in our lives. But for someone who feels like their entire world is literally crumbling around them, it's more difficult to find that peace. Sometimes it's easier to curse a God they don't understand for giving them hardship, while it often brings a person closer to that relationship He's seeking with all of us.

And while understanding God's infinite love for us, and what He gave to ensure that we could all come to him without rituals or sacrifice, an even greater love exists. Perhaps not more potent than His love for us, because there are no words in any language to truly describe the kind of love that God feels for every one of his creations. It's a mutual love that develops when you begin to form the most intimate relationship with Him. When you fall in love with God, the cycle is complete. It's so incredibly easy to love a God that loves us back unconditionally, unabashedly, and with unfailing determination.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. --1 Corinthians 13:4-8
